Waco Unraveling

There have been a number of details that were clear to the conscientious observer since early March 1993. Although proof of these occurrences was difficult, if not impossible, at the time, the circumstances, conditions and other bits and pieces of information could lead to logical conclusions. Proof, however, was, without question, in the hands and under the control of the federal government.

The Texas Rangers were deputized (along with Texas Department of Public Safety, McLennan County Sheriff, the Waco Police Department and other local law enforcement people) and unable to proceed under state or local authority with any investigation into the matter.

In one of my meetings with the then head of the Texas Rangers, Commander Maurice Cook, assured me that the Rangers would not allow any destruction of evidence, and would make the evidence available to anybody lawfully authorized to investigate the matter. Commander Cook, and his successor, have not let us down.

The current release of information is a result, primarily, of the efforts of two men who have sought truth to the events in Waco with persistence and fortitude. Mike McNulty, who brought us "Waco – Rules of Engagement" has continued his pursuit of, primarily, audio and visual evidence of the events. Mike first obtained the CBS tapes of what had been alleged to show a flamethrowing tank – disputing a theory that had arisen and circulated for nearly a year after the fire. He also obtained early videos showing the destruction of the gymnasium and other activities that raised serious question as to the veracity of the BATF/FBI story. This, however, was only the beginning of his crusade. "Waco ‘ Rules of Engagement" exposed even more misdeeds of the agents on the ground. Among others, the evidence Mike brought forward gave credence to the claims of one of the Davidians – that the women and children were shot at when they tried to flee the fire through the rear (kitchen) door of the Church. Another was the possible source, whether intentional, or not, of the fateful fire. Video evidence of a 40-mm incendiary round was included in Mike’s first work.

Mike is currently producing an updated version of "Rules", which, surely, will bring even more to light.

David Hardy, a Tucson, Arizona attorney, has sought, through the Freedom of Information Act, evidence that was believed to exist. Although David ran in to obstacle (denials of existence) along the way, he persisted, Finally, the dam broke. David reserved damages for the government’s failure to respond to his FOIA requests, and information either denied to exist or claimed as lost began to appear. His efforts also began o put pressure on the Texas Rangers. Though deputized and sworn to obey federal directives, the Rangers found themselves in the middle of a no-win situation. Finally, in an effort to extricate themselves from becoming the ‘fall guy’ for the Justice Department, the rangers ‘exposed’ portions of the evidence that they held. The hole was made in the dam, and it has continued to enlarge itself since then. (David’s work can be found at http://www.indirect.com/www/dhardy/waco.html.

Having been present during the siege, the Outpost of Freedom, though able to spread the word about the provables, was able only to stand mute with regard to other matters. Now that the information and evidence has begun to flow, OPF will attempt to put the perspective of its experience on the information that is coming to light.

Waco Unraveling No. 5 - Ian Goddard, who has done extensive investigation of the TWA Flight 800 downing, has now stepped in to the realm of the current Waco revelations. Ian provided some insight into one of the theories of Gordon Novel and Benton Partin. The theories seem to be a bit far-fetched, so OPF has decided to respond to  these claims.

Waco Unraveling No. 6 - This article begins to document the "newly found documents" which, understandably, the FBI had so much trouble finding -- in their own headquarters.

Waco Unraveling No. 7 - The recent acknowledgement that the FBI did fire at the Davidians is being "spun" by the establishment press, and minimizing the impact of this disclosure. Who did fire the last shots in Waco?
